About four years ago, a WhatsApp group of six friends began sharing financial news and debating the stories behind the headlines. That conversation grew into a community of more than 40 professionals with experience across the financial industry. As we examined the articles being shared, a recurring pattern emerged: facts were often mixed with speculation, opinion was presented as fact, and incomplete or inaccurate information could shape how readers understood a story. We recognized how quickly a headline, sound bite, or social post can steer an audience toward a conclusion before the underlying facts are ever considered.

That realization led to the creation of a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, nonpartisan, contributor-driven financial news organization dedicated to fact-based reporting and analysis. We cover the full financial spectrum—from business and capital markets to personal finance and the global economy—with a particular focus on North Carolina and the issues affecting its residents, businesses, communities, and municipalities. Our objective is simple: present the facts, provide the context, distinguish reporting from speculation, and give readers the information necessary to form their own conclusions. In an information environment where speed often comes before verification, we believe accuracy, transparency, and context should remain the foundation of credible financial news.
